Wii Zapper

Today we get our first look at the Nintendo Wii Zapper's packaging as well as some early info about the upcoming Link's Crossbow Training. Admittedly the packaging is nothing spectacular but the description of the bundled game is more than a bit intriguing.

The press release, which we link too below, outlines the basic mechanics of the game as well as three game-modes which will have players testing their aim and skill. One of the obvious additions is the "Target Shooting" mode which simply involves taking out various targets while in a stationary position.

"Defender" should seem similarly familiar as the player uses the zapper to aim around the game world trying to take out encroaching enemies.

In defender rounds, players remain stationary but can look and aim in all directions - sometimes even in a full 360 degrees - by aiming off screen. Hordes of enemies assault Link, and he must fight them off. These battles have a great deal of variety, from fighting off skeletons in a desert to defending a wagon from boar-riding Bokoblins.

Finally there's "Ranger" in which the player guides link as he raids enemy encampments while moving around the gameworld. What's nice about this mode is that it utilizes the nunchuck for movement while pointing retains the light-gun feel.

I have to admit that this all still feels a little to gimicky for me but it's still a little too early to make a real judgment. While it's not listed on Amazon yet the Nintendo Wii Zapper bundle is slated for a November 11th release - just in time to find its way into your holiday wishlist.
