Guitar Hero: On Tour

It's safe to assume that a Guitar Hero game will be finding it's way onto the DS sooner or later - the potential fun factor is just too high!

While no official announcement about the game has surfaced GoNintendo has spotted a listing on a French website that hints at a release date sometime this year.  With no listing on Amazon, GameStop or more importantly Activision, it still leaves things up in the air - I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

On things for certain - without the guitar peripheral it's going to be curious how this is going to play. Kotaku showed off a pretty cool mockup sometime back but functionally it was a bit tough - how do you see the screen, hold the guitar, strum and hit the frets all at the same time?

Gonna have to wait and see...

Speed Linking for 1/20/08

  1. The How-To-Geek offers up a great tip for getting Windows Vista to automatically disable Aero before starting application. It also automagically turns it back on when you close the app. This is absolutely great for anyone looking to squeeze a little more performance out of their system during games like Crysis or (the PC game I'm currently working on) Hellgate London.
  2. The folks at 1Up have compiled a list of the top 101 free games of 2008. There are tons of familiar titles and tons of new ones so be sure to check it out.
  3. Could Kid Icarus be making his triumphant return at the hands of Factor 5? It's been a long time since i played th original Kid Icarus - I can't remember most of the game to be honest. The thing about Nintend, though, is that they love using nostalgia to sell games. After all the hype that floated around a potential Kid Icarus game during the launch of the Wii it only makes sense they'd give it a try. But Factor 5? After Lair I'm not quite sure what to expect. For more on this rumor check out the post over at Joystiq.
  4. Ever seen an M16 Light Gun for the original NES? Neither had we until GoNintendo found one on eBay. Check out their post about it.
  5. Lastly we have a list of the top 12 covers of the Still Alive. My personal favorite is below - if you've bought The Orange Box Soundtrack then you've got a copy of Jonathan Coulton singing the song but this other won is a pretty solid one too.

Super Mario Galaxy - DS?

OK so there are a ton of blogs talking about this right now and I'd be remiss not to at least share it. Is there some type of Super Mario Galaxy DS?

To be honest I'm surprised right now that the most hyped DS / Wii connection only exists with Geometry Wars: Galaxies - that's an interesting coincidence too though - Super Mario: Galaxy, Geometry Wars: Galaxies ...

Check out the video - after the jump and share your thoughts.

DS Wine Training Game: Train your Liver in Glasses a Day

Wine no Hajimekata DSGames like Brain Age and Flash Focus found a unique niche in the American game market. Like the game's most of us played in grade school these titles appealed to our natural desire to learn things. While these have been the most popular games in the US the Japanese market has seen a flood of similar instructional puzzlers that teach everything from languages to skills.

Still in the Japanese market Square Enix (the folks behind Final Fantasy) are getting ready to release a new game titled Wine no Hajimekata DS or Beginner's Wine DS which includes one of the most unique accessories you'll see in any limited-edition title: a bottle of Bourdeaux. I had a little wine training once (when I was a waiter) and it can certainly be an interesting skill - I'm curious to see how Square Enix goes about making this work.

It's hard to imagine a limited-edition of this nature hitting American shores, mostly because parent groups still think games are only for kids, but the title itself may be able to gain a foothold. Personally I'd rather see a game on beer tasting but Wine no Hajimekata DS certainly does look interesting.

DS Halo - Foh Realz

I know it sounds strange but it looks like Halo for the DS was a reality and Matt Casamassina, from IGN, has been vindicated. I know that it's hard to imagine seeing a Microsoft title on a Nintendo Console but apparently it almost happened.

As proof Matt Casamassina provides the following video which apparently is one of more to come.

Check it out and share your thoughts.
