The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass BoxartThis week's DS game is pretty much a no brainer. Making his first big appearance on the Nintendo DS, Link is sure to ruffle a few feathers and maybe even push some more handhelds as the holiday season approaches. Serving as a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker this new Zelda game has a lot to offer.

Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass mixes the aesthetic from Wind Waker with the DS to achieve some really intriguing sounding gameplay. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is due on shelves Monday Oct 1. Expect a writeup of it sometime soon.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies meets LOLCats

In a move reminiscent of Resse's genius idea to blend chocolate and peanut butter someone has gone ahead and blended LoL Cats with Geometry Wars to create the GWG Cats website.

Geometry Wars: Galaxies is due out November 13 on both the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS - we're eyeing the DS Version. It adds sixty new "planets," offers wireless play with a single cart and will sport bonus content for people who link their DS and Nintendo Wii version.

50 Million DS Sales Can’t Be Wrong

Nintendo DSIn the 16 years that the Nintendo Game Boy was at market (and that's before the GBA) the console managed to sell 119 Million Units. That's roughly 7.5 million units each year - pretty impressive for one of the first portable gaming systems!

In comparison the Game Boy Advance managed 81 million (~13.5 million / year) units between it's launch in 2001 and today.

The DS? According to DSFanboy in the three years since release the Nintendo DS has sold 50 (~17 million / year) million units - well on par to surpass both of it's predecessors.
