LFG’s 20 Top Nintendo Games of all Time

Hiro over at Live for Games has released a list of what he considers the Top 20 Nintendo Console Games of All Time.

The list includes a lot of my all time favorite Nintendo Classics but there are clearly a few missing.  Right now there's just the first 10, hopefully the rest will be coming soon - I look forward to seeing how he finishes the list.

134 Simultaneous Game Attempts on One Screen

If you're interested in Quantum Physics you might want to check out the backstory for this video. If not you can enjoy it simply for what it is, 134 simultaneous play-throughs of the Super Mario World hack known as Kaizo Mario World.

Managing Cord Clutter

If you're like me (and you know you are) your TV has a ton of cables coming out of it.

I've adopted strips of velcro to tie off cables and reduce clutter but there are a ton of other options.  Over at Maximum PC there's a post detailing how to deal with PC cables.  Many of the ideas could easily be adopted to work with gaming consoles and entertainment centers too though.

Speedlinking 2/10/08 Edition

  1. Do you struggle with the whammy bar in Guitar Hero? Good with a soldering iron? You may want to check out this hack presented by Googlemarks. With just a little bit of soldering and a basic knowledge of circuitry and you've got an automatic whammy bar capable of maxing your scores - of course if you still have to work those pesky fret buttons on your own or just go a step too far and build a Guitar Hero playing robot.
  2. The folks over at DSFanboy have a post comparing the three different versions of N+ that will be coming to the DS, PSP and XBox Live Marketplace. There's also a very interesting point made - apparently because the game is essentially being developed by Atari for the handhelds and Metanet for XBLM, and because all three versions will have different aspect ratios, the three versions all basically have unique levels ... over 500 each! Looks like if you really love N you could buy all three games and experience a TON of gameplay variety.
  3. I've been avidly watching TIGSource for news on independent games and once again they've come through. Check out this post which highlights the upcoming Bonesaw. Looks like it might be a lot of fun - it also looks difficult but that's a good thing no?
  4. GamePro recently released an article concerning Gears of War 2 and it's possible release sometime in 2008.  Epic responded by calling the article "complete nonsense."  Want to read what the article?  Check out scans currently available on at Kotaku.

Second Skin

I've been out of the MMO game for awhile - while I trying out Hellgate & Fury they really doesn't count ... honest - I recognize a lot of the draw and power that those types of games have. There really is something addictive about leaving your boring day and becoming a hero in some far off land, that's why people read books too right?

Anyway as interesting as MMOs are, apparently someone finds the people who play them just as interesting. I was worried that Second Skin was going to be a preachy movie trying to get us to dump our video game playing ways but it looks like it might actually be something interesting. The video, posted after the break, seems to be tease a docu-drama that mixes the good and bad of our online adventures and offers a human spin that might get past the "geeks, nerds and kids" angle thats getting so tired.

We will definitely be keeping an eye on this one!
