Motus DarwinI wouldn't consider the Wiimote ideal for PC applications but there's certainly something about it that hints at a device that would be good for both PC gaming and general PC navigation. While touch screens are probably the way of the future there's a good chance that some sort of 3d interface can be adopted to make interaction with a computer more intuitive and more productive.

The Motus Darwin, a device developed by Boston based Motus Corporation, looks like it has the potential to re-invent the PC / mouse interface in a manner that was hinted at by the Wiimote. Using a series of gyroscopes and accelerometers the folks at Motus developed a training device for golfers that's known as the iClub.

After the introduction of the Nintendo Wii Motus recognized the potential for the technology in it's iClub and essentially scaled it back for the gaming market. While aimed at game consoles and the PC gaming community I think the device also has some potential for folks look for a decent entertainment PC interface.

I personally would still rather see a commercial version of the Soap Mouse but until that happens I'll be keeping an eye out for the Motus Darwin - scheduled to retail in the neighborhood of about $100.

Wii NunchukBack during CES we all got a look at the Nyko Cordless Wii Nunchuck - turns out Nyko wasn't content to release just one cordless Wii-mote peripheral

Today Nyko has announced a new cordless bundle this one with an included display stand for your standard Wii Nunchuk. The major difference between the two peripherals is seems to be the implementation. While the original Wireless Wii Nunchuk will be a separate purchase (currently listed on Amazon for $29.99) the "Cord-Free" Wii Nunchuk option uses a wireless module that plugs into an existing wired Nunchuk. As you can see from the image the form factor really doubles as a stand for the nunchuk which is one of the reasons why we're itching over it.

That and the fact that it's gonna retail for $19.99 - mmm savings.

You can read the official press release here.

Cheap Madcatz Wii Component Cables

Wii Madcatz Component CablesI'm not usually one to go for the cheap accessories on Amazon but today they've got a deal on something I've been wanting for awhile. If you've got your Wii hooked upto an HD TV you probably know by now that it doesn't look nearly as good as most of the other consoles. Upgrading to Component Cables is the best way to solve this but when they run between $25 and $50 the investment can hurt a bit.

The good news right now is that Amazon is selling Wii Madcatz Component Cable for just $9.99. That's a $10 savings off their regular price.

If you've been thinking about upgrading the video output on Nintendo's Wii now may be the time to take the plunge.

Club Nintendo Japan > Club Nintendo America

Club Nintendo Shwag

Over the last several months we've seen some really cool swag work its way into the hands of Japan's Club Nintendo members. Of course there is no American branch of Club Nintendo but we do get our share of some interesting items here and there. From the feather stylus to some of the really cool pre-order stuff there are at least some things worth making the extra effort for.

One thing that is very disappointing though is the quality of the Japanese fan swag when compared to some of the stuff we Americans get.

Don't believe me? take a peak at the image above.

As part of a new promotion Club Nintendo in Japan is offering the choice of either a Nintendo themed Calendar, a Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack CD set or a classic Wii controller shaped like the SNES pad.

I want that SNES pad dammit.
