  1. IGN has some new screenshots of the upcoming Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood from BioWare.  Along with 20 screenshots there's also an interview with the game's producer Mike Darrah.  The article is worth checking out if only to see the absolutely stunning graphics that BioWare has put together!
  2. Could Sony be planning on doing something with the new PSP slims?  PSPFanboy found some documents submitted to the FCC which hint at a possible series of changes to the PSP but don't get too specific.  Based on the listings its safe to assume we wont be seeing a new PSP line quite yet there's a chance that some of the hardware might be changing - time will tell.
  3. Destructoid has some details on the upcoming release of Audiosurf coming to Steam pretty soon.  Check out their vid and get some pricing details.

  1. Do you struggle with the whammy bar in Guitar Hero? Good with a soldering iron? You may want to check out this hack presented by Googlemarks. With just a little bit of soldering and a basic knowledge of circuitry and you've got an automatic whammy bar capable of maxing your scores - of course if you still have to work those pesky fret buttons on your own or just go a step too far and build a Guitar Hero playing robot.
  2. The folks over at DSFanboy have a post comparing the three different versions of N+ that will be coming to the DS, PSP and XBox Live Marketplace. There's also a very interesting point made - apparently because the game is essentially being developed by Atari for the handhelds and Metanet for XBLM, and because all three versions will have different aspect ratios, the three versions all basically have unique levels ... over 500 each! Looks like if you really love N you could buy all three games and experience a TON of gameplay variety.
  3. I've been avidly watching TIGSource for news on independent games and once again they've come through. Check out this post which highlights the upcoming Bonesaw. Looks like it might be a lot of fun - it also looks difficult but that's a good thing no?
  4. GamePro recently released an article concerning Gears of War 2 and it's possible release sometime in 2008.  Epic responded by calling the article "complete nonsense."  Want to read what the article?  Check out scans currently available on at Kotaku.

PSP Firmware 3.9

OK so if you're an owner of the original "PSP Fat" this really isn't going to be too exciting. If you're an owner of the new PSP Slim then this is going to be only mildly more exciting than it is for the PSPf owners.

While I certainly dig the idea of seeing the PSP getting some Skype functionality I'm more than a little disappointed at the current implementation.  Yes, the software is free - but we're still expected to buy a service plan and extra hardware in order to get things working.  It's all a bit much for a piece of hardware that is kinda bulky for a Skype phone.

Beside getting the Skype functionality activated you'll also get expanded access to some PlayStation Network titles.

As I said - nothing too exciting.

Dead Head Fred for $15

Dead Head FredI picked up Dead Head Fred two weeks ago from Best Buy for $20 and thought that was a great deal. Turns out that I got jumped the gun because it's now available for just $15 at Amazon and Gamestop.

I haven't started playing the game yet (saving it for a plane flight later this month) but have heard lots of good stuff - at least for a budget title.  Metacritic has it rated at 7.4 but it's got a slew of good ratings from some reputable sources.  If you've played Dead Head Fred what did you think of it?  Is it worth the $15?

Final Fantasy Crisis Core UMD Case

OK so this is the second pre-order bonus today but it's another one that might be too good to pass up - at least if you're a Final Fantasy fan.

Shinra UMD Case

While I personally prefer Sony's PSP Game & UMD Case there's a decent case that holds a single UMD available as part of a pre-order bonus when you buy Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII through Amazon.com. I've got a feeling that this is really only going to interest two types of people; folks who love Final Fantasy and folks who need UMD cases.

Not nearly as exciting as the Patapon pre-order bonus but still worth a mention.
