PataPon Trailer

I'm one of those gamers that absolutely loved LocoRoco. It's one of those games that becomes an instant favorite as soon as you start playing. When I first got a look at PataPon, mostly through the screenshots on some other game blogs, I got the feeling that I was going to like it as much - if not more - than LocoRoco.

Generally rythm games have to adopt a twist to really work and it looks like PataPon has found a good one. As the player you control the PataPon tribe through drumbeats. Using this unique system you have the ability to attack, command the tribe to march and even defend. Currently the game boasts 30 missions and a visual style that is very appealing - it actually reminds me a bit of Samuri Jack.

The trailer below speaks a lot towards what to expect in the game. It looks like a pretty decent platformer and appears to offer some pretty interesting options for customizing your tribe as the game develops. Currently PataPon is slated for an early 2008 release.

If you haven't yet gotten a look at N+ for both the PSP and DS now's as good a time as any. Based on the popular flash game N (which you can play here), N+ is a fast paced customizable platformer that definitely looks intriguing.

I've played a bit of the original and while it's not great it certainly looks like it has potential to be a fun handheld title.

Hit the jump to see N+ in action.
