If you've got an XBox360 and have access to the XBlox Live Marketplace now would be a good time to log in. Aegis Wing, a free shmup (Shoot 'em up) designed by Microsoft interns, has been released for free and is currently available to anyone in North America.

I just finished about a half-hour game with Aegis Wing and I have to say that it's certainly a nice distraction. While I've never been a big fan of Shmup gameplay there are occasions when it can be a bit of fun. Across the first couple of levels I found that Aegis Wing was adequately difficult and, despite having some repetitive music, looks like it could prove a decent party game.

Offering multiplayer for upto four players I'm excited to try it out once a few friends get a hold of it. Anyway, Aegis Wing is free so be sure download it and give it a go.

Hot on the heels of Nintendo's release of Final Fight for the Virtual Console comes word that Double Dragon, another major beat-em-up from days gone by, will be hitting the XBLA marketplace tomorrow.

Despite having a pretty ugly splash screen background (which most XBLA retro titles are treated to) the game looks pretty good. There have almost certainly been a few touch-ups to the game and the result is certainly welcome.

At only 400 Microsoft Points keep an eye out for the game to hit sometime tomorrow.
